Christmas is my favorite holiday and not for the reasons you might think so I decided to make a quick short list about all the great things of Christmas.

1. It is the only time of year you have a legit excuse to eat cookies at anytime of the day even if it's at 10am when you wake up.

2. Every member of the family travels to come together to sit around the fireplace and share highlights of the almost departed year (for those without a fireplace I strongly recommend the fire place channel on TV).

3. Watching Christmas morning snow while drinking hot tea and listening to Christmas music with my mom, enough said.

While it might not even be Thanksgiving yet, I along with all of your favorite retail stores have jumped on the Christmas train and we are going at full speed.

Hometown: Belle Plaine, MNMajor: Biology/Pre-MedYear: FreshmanHobbies: Student Government, pre-med club
Tue Nov 10 23:09:13 CST 2009

Part of the tuition break down here at St. Thomas is a small $15 dollar fee known in the financial office as the activity fee. Rough statistics estimate that 1000 students on the St. Paul campus do not utilize this fund and never participate in any activities that uses "their" fifteen dollars.

Last month I used my activity fee when I paid only ten dollars to get into a nice restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, namely Fogo de Chao. Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steak house that has multiple types of Black Angus certified beef, which normal runs someone seventy dollars a meal. What happens is you flip over a coaster that is red on one side and green on the other signaling green for 'yes meat' and red for 'no meat'. This was one of the best meals I had and it only cost me ten dollars!

This month STAR, the St. Thomas Activities and Recreation, is taking us to Icihiban a Japanese steakhouse in downtown Minneapolis. Again this normally expensive meal is just ten dollars! Oh the perks of going to St. Thomas and living in the Twin Cities.

I strongly suggest everyone on campus check out the activities STAR puts on for students on campus and take advantage of them! What a great way to meet people and get an expensive meal for ten dollars.

Sibel's Blog
http://blog.stthomas.edu/sibel/2009/11/15_dollars_really_equals_so_mu.html?WT.mc_id=TBRSS"}]);
